Policy Statements
Anti Hate Statement
At Migrant Haven, we believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity, safety, and respect. We stand firmly against all forms of hate, discrimination, and prejudice directed at individuals or communities because of who they are, where they come from, or what they believe.
Hate crime and hate incidents can have a deep and lasting impact on individuals and communities. For many migrants, these experiences can create fear, isolation, and barriers to feeling safe and included in society. Migrant Haven is committed to challenging hate and supporting those who may be affected by it.
As part of our commitment to building safer and more inclusive communities, we are involved in the Salford Hate Crime Ambassadorship Scheme. Through this initiative, we help raise awareness about hate crime, encourage open conversations within communities, and support individuals to understand their rights and the options available to them.
We also help signpost individuals to appropriate services and reporting channels so that hate crimes and incidents can be recorded and addressed. Reporting hate crime is important because it helps authorities understand what is happening in communities and take action to prevent further harm.
If you or someone you know has experienced hate crime or a hate incident, support is available. You can report hate crime by contacting the police, speaking to a trusted community organisation, or using recognised reporting services. Migrant Haven can also provide guidance and help direct individuals to the right support.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating communities where hate has no place and where diversity is valued and respected. By working together, we can build safer, stronger, and more inclusive communities for all.

Safeguarding Statement
Migrant Haven committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone who engages with our organisation. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the wellbeing of all individuals we work with, particularly those who may be vulnerable due to their circumstances.
Many of the people who access our services may be navigating complex challenges, and it is important that they feel safe, heard, and protected when engaging with Migrant Haven. Safeguarding is therefore central to how we operate as an organisation.
We have established internal safeguarding policies and procedures that guide our work and ensure that staff, volunteers, and partners understand their responsibilities in protecting the welfare of the people we support. These procedures set clear standards for recognising, responding to, and reporting any safeguarding concerns.
Our safeguarding approach focuses on prevention, awareness, and responsible action. All staff and volunteers are expected to act with integrity, respect boundaries, and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of individuals at all times.
If a safeguarding concern is identified, Migrant Haven follows appropriate reporting procedures and works with relevant authorities or support services where necessary to ensure individuals receive the protection and support they need.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Through clear policies, ongoing awareness, and a culture of care and accountability, Migrant Haven strives to ensure that all individuals who engage with our organisation feel safe, respected, and supported.
Community Engagement Statement
Migrant Haven believes that strong communities are built through participation, collaboration, and shared understanding.
Our work is rooted in community engagement. We listen to the voices of migrants and local residents to ensure that our services reflect real needs and experiences.
Community engagement also helps ensure that migrants are not only supported but are able to actively contribute their skills, experiences, and perspectives to the communities they now call home.
Transparency and Accountability Statement
Migrant Haven is committed to operating with transparency, integrity, and accountability in everything we do.
We recognise that our supporters, partners, and the communities we serve place trust in our work. We therefore strive to ensure that our activities, decision-making processes, and use of resources are open and responsible.
We aim to use all funding and support in ways that maximise impact and benefit the communities we serve. We also value feedback and continuously seek ways to improve our services and strengthen our organisational practices.
Accountability is central to maintaining trust and ensuring that our work continues to create meaningful and lasting change.
Environmental and Sustainability Statement
Migrant Haven recognises the importance of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices within our work and communities.
We aim to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into our activities wherever possible. This includes encouraging community initiatives that support green spaces, sustainability awareness, and responsible use of resources.
Through community engagement and projects that promote environmental wellbeing, we aim to contribute to healthier, more sustainable communities for current and future generations.
Partnerships and Collaboration Statement
Collaboration is central to the work of Migrant Haven.
We recognise that addressing the challenges faced by migrant communities requires partnership and cooperation across sectors. By working alongside community organisations, public services, businesses, and local partners, we are able to strengthen support networks and expand opportunities for those we serve.
Partnerships allow us to share knowledge, combine resources, and create more effective solutions that benefit individuals and communities alike.
Together, we can build stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
