Employability Skills Programme – Opening Doors to Work
Finding employment in a new country can be one of the biggest challenges migrants face. Many individuals arrive with valuable skills and qualifications but often struggle to navigate the job market.
To help bridge that gap, Migrant Haven delivered a series of employability workshops in Bolton, designed to equip migrants with the practical tools needed to access employment opportunities.
The programme covered key areas including:
- CV writing and structuring professional resumes
- Completing job applications
- Preparing for interviews
- Understanding workplace expectations in the UK
Sessions were delivered both in person and online, allowing participants to access support in ways that suited their circumstances.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, practice interview techniques, and receive personalised guidance on improving their job applications. For many, this was the first time they had access to tailored support focused on entering the UK job market.
The results were encouraging. Participants reported feeling more confident applying for jobs, and some have since moved forward into employment opportunities after completing the programme.
What stood out most was the sense of encouragement shared within the group. Participants supported one another, celebrated small successes, and left the sessions feeling more prepared for the next step in their employment journey.
